Hi, I'm Chokecherry. I was adopted last year by the rescue. I'm a 25-year-old quarter horse.
I have melanoma, a kind of cancer, which my vet says has spread to my lymphatic system.
I don't let it get to me, though. I'm interested and energetic, and
enjoy being petted and groomed, and light riding with children.
It's hard to keep weight on me; special care is paid to my diet. I got my regular worming (YUCK!), and my teeth floated last month.
It's all good though, 'coz boy, do I love the attention!

Several of the horses at Fresh Start Horse Rescue are permanent residents because of age,
health problems or unsuitability for adoption. Sponsors help with the cost of feeding
and meeting special health needs. This enables us to care for more special needs horses
and to provide a permanent home for horses with nowhere to go.
